| A taxi from the airport will cost
about $50. You could arrange a return trip to the airport for about $50 with
Paradise Taxi (239-470-7500) or Errol's Taxi (239-770-3333),
both local operators. Although we recommend renting a car to explore attractions and events near Fort Myers Beach, you can travel up and down the entire island on the Beach Trolley (only 25 cents!). The trolley stops about every 5 minutes during the day (starting 6:30 am), every 12 minutes between 5-6, and then every 30 minutes until about 9 pm. There are no bike paths per se, although many folks ride along the paved shoulders of Estero Boulevard. A variety of rental bikes, scooters, and in-line skates are available at Fun Rentals, 1901 Estero Blvd., at Ohio Avenue (239-463-8844). You can also rent bicycles and canoes by the hour in Lover's Key State Park, just a 10 minute drive to the south of us. On the other hand, you can find plenty to do with just a pair of sandals or sneakers as your sole (excuse the pun) mode of transportation. Actually, when we're at home during cold Minnesota winters we talk about spending an entire week there barefoot!
